Marcus Roberts was, from 1985 and for several years, the pianist of Wynton Marsalis and this alone is a reference when we know the care that Wynton takes in the choice of his partners. Like his mentor, he was immersed in New Orleans music, that of its origins, and was nourished by the entire history of jazz.

We thought he was a pianist, he was a conductor, composer, arranger, screenwriter, director, architect of spaces where suspense was the key word . A regular at our festival, we wanted to pay tribute to him with this “Tribute to Ahmad Jamal”, a celebration in honor of the immense jazz figure who died on April 16, 2023 at the age 92 years old. With this carte blanche to Marcus Roberts & Herlin Riley, all his loyal collaborators will be there!
