Meet the author and agronomist Jacques Tassin for a meeting and signing, particularly around his latest work: "Agriculterre" published in April by Odile Jacob. Agriculture constitutes a foundation and a project serving everyone. It is on it that our ability to eat, to drink clean water, to preserve our environment, in short to live in a habitable world, depends today. But as the climate heats up and biodiversity collapses, governments are no longer able to restore hope to an agricultural profession that is gradually disappearing. In a context of competitiveness pushed to the absurd, farmers who wanted to feed the world while having a decent income had to turn a blind eye to practices that were as unvirtuous as they were unsustainable. For Jacques Tassin, agriculture has no choice but to reinvent itself. How ? By rebuilding a pact of solidarity with life, by rediscovering the interdependencies and continuities of life, by once again becoming an art of cultivating the land, breaking with extractive and predatory logics. Because only solidarity between all will allow farmers to adjust to the new environmental situation and offer healthy food.
